VAMM Steel and Veslatec: “Together we are stronger”

VAMM Steel manufactures components and parts for customer-built motors, machines and equipment, working with sheet metal and metal processing techniques. VAMM Steel is a company based in Vaasa with over 70 employees.

Our collaboration began in 2015. Back then the companies were in the same building.

— Right from the start, working together felt natural. Our cooperation works both ways and is built on trust. Almost without words, we know what the other one thinks, says VAMM Steel’s CEO Vesa Tammela.

Shared know-how brings more value

Veslatec carries out laser-cutting for VAMM Steel, manufacturing various sheet-metal parts. Typically, the parts are first processed at Veslatec, and after that, if needed, VAMM Steel bends, welds, paints, machines and assembles them.

Conversely, VAMM Steel also delivers services for Veslatec, such as riveting, welding and shaped sheet-metal constructions.

Thanks to this cooperation, the customer gets a wide range of products from a single source, benefitting from the expertise of both companies.

— We often discuss together with Veslatec how a product is best implemented. That way the customer gets the best possible solution.

Working together also saves on machinery investments: it doesn’t make sense to acquire the same machines that another already owns. In Tammela’s opinion, it’s worth having the work done by whoever does it best.

— We both are professionals in our own sectors. Veslatec has the required machines and laser processing expertise, so we’re happy to let them handle that. And Veslatec appreciates the services we offer them, which they wouldn’t want to do themselves. The cooperation gives both of us a competitive advantage.

Shared goal: growth and bigger projects

VAMM Steel and Veslatec plan to tighten cooperation in the future since customers have been satisfied with the delivered service and wide product range. The partnership also enables larger projects.

According to Tammela, working with Veslatec is simple and effortless, since the companies share the same goal: growth.

— We have the same outlook, because we’ve worked together for a long time and we know each other’s ways of working. When the goal is the same, it’s easy for us to move forward together. This is a true partnership.
